I met this standard by practicing on a mannequin during class and practicing the AED, CPR and the first aid kit. I attached the pads on the mannequin and used a fake AED that went through all of the correct steps. We were also aloud to practice our technique on our classmates to perfect our first aid skills. I also learned how to check the different pulse points and how to know the difference between abnormal and normal rates.
This standard has real-world application because it is used in everyday life .Using CPR and an AED is for people who can be dying or are in unsafe conditions. I have several kids who live on my street that come to my door when they are hurt because they know my mom is a nurse. By watching my mother care for others has helped me to perform first aid as well. Now the children ask for me or my mom.
This standard has inspired me to further discover how important CPR and an AED is to save someones life. Without these useful devices people can be harmed and may even die. By taking this healthcare class I am now more aware of where these devices are located in different facilities.
