Reflection (4 sentences per questions = 12 sentences total)How Did You Meet This Standard?
I met this standard by learning the different policies and rights that are offered to a patient. One of the main acts that protects a patient and their rights is Health Insurance Probability Accountability Act. Also, patients may now have an advance directive that states their wishes when they are unable to. I have learned that it is not acceptable to speak about your patients in the hallways or in the elevator. I would not want someone to share information about me to others unless I aloud. I will always try and do my best to protect my patient and their information.
How Does The Standard Have Real-World Application?
This standard has real-world application because in order to work in the healthcare field you had to follow the rules and regulations for your hospital who employs you. In every healthcare field you have to follow the guides and regulations of HIPAA. If at anytime you go against the rules and regulations that are set out by your manager , you could be fired or written up at any time.
What Are Your Future Learning Goals Related To This Standard?
This standard has inspired me to further discover who to keep my patients information private. In the future I hope to invest my time in to finding more ways to protect peoples privacy. I know if i was a patient in a hospital i wouldn't want everyone to know my business. Therefore healthcare workers should all strive to protect patients rights and privacy.
