I met this standard by learning and practicing ethical issues. In class we had a debate and talked about many different cultures in the world. I learned during healthcare you have to treat people that have different cultures and beliefs with respect. Even though a person may not believe the same things you believe it does not give you the right to treat them unfair or disrespectful.
This standard has real-world application because in order to work in the healthcare field you need to know how to care for different cultures and religions. Some cultures may seem rude because they are unable to express there true feelings due to their cultural limitations. Know matter what situation I find myself in the future I know how to handle it calmly and respectfully. I will keep my thoughts to myself and care for the patient. Nursing the patient back to health is my ultimate goal and not to get involved in unethical situations.
This standard has inspired me to further discover how important it is to know peoples different perspectives and how they feel. Now I understand what it is like to be in their shoes. Because of health class and what I have learned through the year, I know now how to treat other cultures with kindness and respect. I also hope for my future to be surrounded by others who believe in treating others ethnically.
